Will Power for Sale?

Ok so I have done really well these past couple days.  Went to the gym 2 out of 4 days.  Ran one day and did a weight lifting/cardio class the other.  Feeling good about myself UNTIL I go to mom's for dinner.  Let's see....fried pork chops, fried okra, red mashed potatoes, and jalapeno cheese corn bread.  NOT TO MENTION boiled peanuts.  Dear Lord shoot me now.  I'm pretty sure that I just ate enough to cancel out all of the exercising that I did.  So, while I do have some motivation to work out, I am lacking in the will power to not eat quite so much.  Any suggestions?  Anyone selling will power out there?

I hear water splashing OUT of the bathtub so I guess I'm done on here for the night...

New learning: Just because it is there and is FREAKIN DELICIOUS doesn't mean that you have to eat it all.

I ran a centimeter of my butt off!!

Or at least I hope that some of my butt came off today while running.  Beat my time yesterday of 45 minutes with a time of 41:20.  Woo hoo!!!  Did more of a 4:1 while running which is more my style.

On a more boring note, I was at a District Writing Committee meeting today.  Blah.  Will be there the next 2 days so I will have absolutely NOTHING interesting to talk about.  So....I'll write again Friday when I have something fun to talk about :o)  Until then...

We make good and bad choices in life but it seems like the bad ones are the ones people remember.
New learning for today: make good choices.

Speshl Day

My daughter's new thing lately is to mark each day off of the calendar.  I looked at it this morning and she had written "speshl day" under Monday.  I told her that we were going to make eggs and bacon, go to the gym, play putt putt and then go to lunch.  I guess in her eyes that's a special day!

Today was also Day One of my new diet and exercise plan.  I trained from last October to this past February for my first half marathon.  I did it in Feb, a 15k in March and then absolutely NOTHING since.  So, my new goal is to see how fast I can run a 5k.  I'd like to do it at close to 30 minutes as possible - I am a 12 minute mile runner (not very fast!) so this is a big goal.  I jog/walked on the treadmill today and it took me 45 minutes.  I have a llllllooooonnnngggg way to go!  I have until the end of August so we'll see!

The "diet" part didn't go so hot.  There's always tomorrow ;)

New learning for today: It's not helpful to celebrate going to the gym with a birthday cake milkshake.

It begins here...

Tomorrow is the day.  First day of the first official week of summer (I'm a teacher), first day of the new diet, and first day of going to the gym (consistently).  I have decided that in order for my life to progressively become beautiful, I must be beautiful - or at least feel that way.

So.....I will apply my moisturizer.  I will wear sunscreen.  I will eat things that take longer than 3 minutes to cook in the microwave.  I will run and jump the fat off my legs.  I will look in the mirror and love (I'll even take LIKE) what I see.  Tomorrow is the day.  Day one of my beautiful life ~ a work in progress.

*New learning for the day:  Broccoli coleslaw is still coleslaw.  Therefore, still not healthy.
